Stunning Revelation: White Girls Get Their Hair Relaxed, Too

Kérastase Sérum Oléo-Relax
It seems that most high-end hair products, shampoos and conditioners on the market are aimed toward white women. For black girls with coarse, unruly hair, the product options are minimal. However, there does seem to be one area of follicle beauty where caucasians lose out: products that heal relaxed hair.

Interview: Shock Treatment

Guido
Many of the most creative hairstyles that appeared on the s/s '08 runways, from Marc Jacobs to Prada, were due to the handiwork of renowned hairstylist Guido (yes, it's just one name), who has been a creative consultant for Redken since 2005. Hot Cross Buns, Fresh Off the Runways

Marc Jacobs s/s '08
Long beloved for its simplicity and functionality, the bun made a comeback in s/s '08 runway shows, with some surprising new twists. After what must have been a backstage back-combing frenzy, the models at Marc Jacobs emerged with outrageous cloud-like confections that topped off his eccentric looks like giant dollops of whipped cream. Meanwhile, at Alessandro dell'Acqua, texture was balanced with restraint: stylists pulled back the hair and artfully folded it under, leaving a section of the crimped ends peeking out underneath.

Hardcore Hair

The dramatic, decadent hairstyles we've seen on runways in the past have principally remained there, but now they’re being prescribed for everyday looks for fall's hardcore hair season.

The avant-garde shapes that define fall's strong silhouettes are finding their complements in the hairstyles that are big features in magazines hitting store shelves. Alternative hairstyles mark a sweeping change in fashion that says, "if you're going for big statements, don't hold back," go dramatic wherever possible: in clothing, in those aggressive platforms, and in hair and makeup.
