ANT!PODiUM Conquers Europe From Down Under
December 2nd, 2008 | London
Inspired by the fashion filled, grimy streets of London's East End, ANT!PODiUM has become a cult womenswear label that remains 100% Australian made. Designed by ex-pats Geoffrey J. Finch, Ashe Peacock and Empire Line creator Fenella Peacock, the team formed after finding a "gap on the rack" of clothing houses. Using naughty satire to name each collection and garment, ANT!PODiUM fuses wearable, contemporary clothing with classic design edge and attention to detail.read more »

Made-to-Order: Emilia Wickstead
July 25th, 2008 | London
Talented and ever-smiling, 25-year-old New Zealand-born designer Emilia Wickstead operates a modern-day couture studio from her Chelsea showroom/flat in London. Launched this past May at Raffles, a private members' club on Kings Road, Wickstead's debut spring/summer '08 collection was a well-edited selection of flirty day dresses, versatile separates and sexy cocktail dresses—all fashioned from the most luxurious fabrics, sourced from Italian mills that even Mr. Valentino himself has used. "The phones kept ringing the day after!" she exclaims, noting that her business has been growing primarily from word-of-mouth ever since. What truly sets Wickstead apart, however, is her business model: all of her garments are made-to-order and she caters exclusively to private clients. As she deals with a clientele that ranges from high-powered executives to young socialites, Wickstead balances her creative vision with the commercial aspects of her business by endeavoring to understand her clients' lifestyles, personalities and figures so that she can suggest styles that will suit them. "I design with my clientele in mind at all times," she says. read more »
