Natural Beauty

By JC Report

As one segment of the skin care industry moves closer to Simone-like
experimentation with synthetic ingredients to create future beauty, another segment is getting back to the roots of
skin care, searching nature’s best to make us glow our finest. Brands such as Lush, Origins,
and Fresh are growing chains of sweet smelling corner stores across the globe while smaller labels like Pacifica,
Deep Steep and
Carol’s Daughter are
gaining cult followings for their homegrown concoctions with winning skin care results. Harlem-based Jaime Earl is
the latest brand to hit up nature for rich ingredients to formulate body butters, scrubs, and creams to protect the
skin from the aggressions of the environment. Watermelon seed and emu oils, sea salt, brown sugar and ginger root
are some of the label’s common yet effective combatants for icky skin conditions including dryness, itching, and
splitting. Bringing skin to its supplest form, clients including Lil’ Kim all agree that skin should indeed feel
like butta.
