Syringe-Free Surgery

By JC Report

Cosmetic surgery has become so ubiquitous and accessible that some people have syringes jabbed into their faces at lunchtime
almost as readily as they pick up a latte on their way to work. Where does that leave the needle phobic and those who think
plastic surgery is best left to taut-faced folks like Ivana Trump?

There are two definite camps — the ones who will and the ones who won’t go under the scalpel. Thankfully, the beauty industry
offers several anti-aging product choices for those who fall in the latter category.

As far as cult products go, Crème de la Mer and StriVectin remain at the top of the list, but other beauty companies are on the rise. Face creams containing ingredients inspired by
successful plastic surgery inventions are hot at the moment. Prevage is Elizabeth Arden‘s contribution to the high-tech world of anti-aging personal care. The product was developed with the help of Allergan, the maker of Botox. Prevage contains Idebenone, an anti-oxidant that fights the effects of oxidation on the skin.

Dr. Jean-Louis Sebagh — the favorite surgeon of many celebs — has his own beauty label, Dr Sebagh. The latest addition to his anti-aging stable of products is Eye Expert, an eye cream that plumps up dry skin around the
orbital area while smoothing out lines. Yet another trustworthy player when it comes to advanced skincare is the Swiss beauty
label La Prairie. One of its most sophisticated offerings is the cellular intervention cream, Anti-Aging Complex. Unlike many other anti-aging
products, this version can be used on younger skin as well as on more mature complexions. Its potent anti-inflammatory agents
combat chronic silent inflammation, a disorder considered one of the skin’s worst enemies when it comes to premature wrinkle
formation. Daniele de Winter‘s (see interview below) L’Elixir Magic Eyes and Lips is touted as this summer’s miracle product, promising to smooth out wrinkles and revitalize
the skin around lips and eyes.

Most of the miracle potions mentioned above need to be used consistently before they show any visible results. If you’re looking
for instant gratification, however, there are plenty of options. Watch stubborn crow’s feet melt with Estée Lauder‘s Perfectionist Power Correcting Eye Patch for Deeper Eye Lines; to achieve lips as lush as they come, try Sövage‘s Instant Lip Plumper; and Lancôme‘s High Resolution Collaser — an intensive collagen anti-wrinkle serum infused with Collaser-48 — promises to "push wrinkles
out from within at laser speed." Does it deliver? According to our test panel, fine lines softened considerably after a few
days’ use.

If 48 hours seems like an eternity and you’d like to see the end of your wrinkles in the blink of an eye, Freeze 24/7 is the latest fast-selling anti-aging agent. Philosophy might also have a compelling option: Unplastic Surgery is the label’s new range of anti-aging products that promise to show
speedy results. Fine Line Filler is an invention of special note; if applied correctly, your face will transform into an altogether
more attractive countenance devoid of lines and crevices. Needles, scalpels, and painful peels — who needs them?
