Natura’s in Love with Latin America

By JC Report

The beauty company Natura—already known for its sustainable beauty products made from raw materials sourced in Brazil—is now taking steps to move into the Latin American market, one which has gone largely untapped by international brands thus far.

One of Natura’s first moves was the recent launch of the Amor América, a new line that utilizes natural elements from the Andes and Patagonia regions, including exotic oils such as Palo Santo (harvested from Ecuadorian trees) and Paramela (extracted from Argentinian bushes). Never used before in the global fragrance industry, the oils, which are known for their therapeutic properties, were discovered after a Natura expedition team—composed of a journalist, a photographer and two perfume specialists—ventured into Latin America in search of inspiration for the brand’s new products.

Among the products incorporating the oils, a particular standout is the relaxing Paine emulsion, which can be applied to the temples and the back of the neck. Far from indicating an ache, “paine” actually means “celestial” in the Mapuches indians’ dialect, and the result is nothing short of a heavenly feeling of refreshment and ease.
