Nails Gone Nude

By JC Report

Goth-inspired nail polish may have gained popularity since its revival in 2007, but it’s starting to look dated next to the upcoming trend of flesh-toned nails, which debuted in the Prada and YSL autumn/winter ’08-’09 ad campaigns. The spreads featured supermodels Linda Evangelista and Naomi Campbell were both shot clutching the latest It bags with varnished nails that blended seamlessly into their hands.

Not to be confused with the perennially bland “natural” look—achieved with sheer pink shades—the best way to update a manicure is to choose creamy, semi-matte, opaque colors with a taupe undertone for a totally neutral appearance. With the nails short in length and slightly rounded on the sides, your hands will be a model of modernity.

Like any good accessory, nail polish demands both versatility and timeliness. Our favorite thing about the nude nails trend is that it will easily transition into spring looks, but can pretty much go with everything.
