If you’re going to shop, one way to feel less guilty about it is by spending money on a cause that helps others. Bulgari’s 125th birthday celebration is one such item, made with the intention of helping to raise $10 million for the Save the Children fund by the end of 2009. The luxe jewelry company has launched a Rewrite the Future campaign with a sterling silver ring that features gothic lettering inspired by Sotirio Bulgari’s silversmith beginnings. Sales will partially go to providing quality education for children residing in conflicted areas.
Bulgari has enlisted the endorsement of Ben Stiller, Willem Dafoe, Isabella Rossellini and other supporters of education to help promote the cause and sell the $290 ring (likely the cheapest item you can buy from the high-end jeweler). The ring will be on sale from 1 February to 31 December 2009 in all Bulgari shops, on their website and in some selected department stores.
The jeweler is further sweetening the pot by developing a high-end jewelry and watches range that will be presented at their “Between Eternity and History” retrospective in Rome this June. Those pieces valued at more than €3 million will be auctioned off at the end of the year, with proceeds also going to help the children. Until then, consider a ring for your valentine.
