Faile’s Success

By JC Report

Of all the attempts to create limited edition wearable art, few collaborators have found success on the level of the multidisciplinary artist collective Faile. A trio of creators from around the globe, Faile produces books, fine art, prints, exhibitions, street art, and one off fashion projects. Past projects include a t-shirt collaboration with Paper Denim and Cloth (whose new 2RSGXX jean fills a similarly exclusive niche), standout kicks for ProKeds, and men’s apparel with One True Saxon. They’ve just launched a new girl’s project with designer Cashmika to produce cashmere sweaters and scarves representing exactly what we’ve come to expect from Patrick McNeil, Aiko Nakagawa, and Patrick Miller: top quality materials, fine composition, and eye-catching graphics with a political edge. Miguel Adrover might be the only other designer that can compete with Faile in terms of offering a worldview with a grounded perspective, passion, and hope. While Faile’s sales don’t approach those of more high-powered collaborations in recent years such as Y-3 or Takashi Murakami for Louis Vuitton, they produce garments and accessories that you can rock and be sure not to spot on every street corner. Faile for Cashmika available at MOVE LAB, 803 Washington St, NYC, 212.741.5520.
