lives, it was only a matter of time before some of these innovations found their way into the
fashion arena. Corpo Nove, the highly inventive label launched at the end of the
millennium, has been revolutionizing the future of our relationship with clothing.
With the backing of parent company Karada Italia, Corpo Nove strives to research and
advance new technologies and production methods while delivering exquisite, often
one of a kind, garments to an ever-growing legion of fans.
Under the direction of designer Mauro Italiano (who previously worked on collections
for Allegri, Gaultier, and Pirelli), Corpo Nove’s mission is to merge function and
technology with historical research in the creation of a line of clothing which is at the
cutting edge of performance. Inspired by the work of the poet Dylan Thomas, the
collections go on a philosophical trajectory fusing themes of nostalgia, life,
death, and lost innocence with the latest advances in fabric research (in
collaboration with Ground Zero Espace and the European Space Agency).
Whether it’s the patching of thousands of sterilized used shirts to create
underlinings, or the bonding of superfine leathers with cigarette paper and active
molecular membranes, the end result always remains true to the company’s deep
commitment to preserving the heritage of traditional craftsmanship, with an eye forward to
the possibilities of technology. So if you thought you’d never see
your favorite fashion label showcased in an edition of Popular Science, think again.
The door to the future has been opened.
