Giving Sigerson Morrison a run for their money, a new shoe store is revitalizing the
block of Prince St between Elizabeth and the Bowery. The Belgrade-born
Dusica Sacks, along with her business partner, Alexsandra Hahn (of
Prada fame) unveiled the Dusica Dusica store two weeks ago to great accolades from the passers-by who had been clamoring to get in while it was being constructed. The store is full of Dusica’s feminine shoe creations for SS ’04 including champagne satin square toe ballet flats with a ruched side panel, pleated tuxedo satin open toe sandals, stacked wooden pumps in pink perforated suede, butter blonde open toe knee high boots and details like thin leather bows, gathered and ruffled leather, and peekaboo toe covers that can be worn over or under the toes. They are already selling out of Dusica’s signature mauve perforated suede ballet flat. The store is a light, airy, comfortable space, with white walls and flowing curtains complete with accents such as crystal hanging lamps and dark (African) wood benches. If you want to see something special, ask Alexsandra to take you in the back room for a fall ’04 preview. Behind the sliding door you’ll be treated to a peek at the waterproof cashmere boots, pleated satin sandals with chiffon ankle ties, and furry low boots with back zippers and molded rubber heels that are bound to revolutionize urban streetscapes next fall.
