Edun Pops Up Westward

By JC Report

U2 frontman Bono and his wife Ali Hewson’s organic and socially aware fashion label Edun is hitting the West Coast with temporary pop-up shops. The first stop is in San Francisco, where the promotion is held at Azalea, the hip lifestyle boutique in the fashionable Hayes Valley area, until October 19th. The store then moves to Los Angeles’ conceptual boutique TenOverSix on November 4th.

If the label’s autumn/winter ’08 collection is anything to go by, then “eco-chic” is alive and well. Inspired by nocturnes (musical compositions that are traditionally played in the evening), the collection features a sophisticated palette of moody tones, edgy silhouettes and luxurious touches. In addition to showcasing the new looks of the season, in-store events include screenings for short documentaries produced by VBS.tv in Uganda.

The company explains that both San Francisco and LA are “important centers for ethical and environmental consumers” and socially aware shoppers will be pleased that their dollars are benefiting incredible causes. Edun will donate 15% of total sale proceeds to ONExONE, a charity organization founded by Diesel Canada president Joelle Berdugo Adler that offers grants to global children’s charities.
