It was all in the walk for Nicolas Berny (formerly an assistant to Rodolphe Menudier and Bruno Frisoni), and Alain Demore, (who was Menudier’s head of commercial) when they decided to collaborate on a shoe line together. WalkThatWalk, the comically named label from the partnership is worth taking notice of, not just for the creators’ previous association with two of fashion’s most innovative footwear forwarders but because of the strong entrance of their first collection, debuting at stores such as Galeries Lafayette and L’Espionne in Paris, Diavolina in Los Angeles, and Podium in Moscow this spring. What we can determine about the line is that it’s light in spirit, whimsical, and doesn’t take itself too seriously. The manufacturing is top-notch, a fringe benefit of Berny’s time spent as Casadei‘s designer. Taking inspiration from ladies thongs, driving gloves, and scuba/surf life, shoes with sturdy construction, sexy shapes and a pervasive white heel mark WalkThatWalk’s debut presentation. And as the trend for innovative footwear continues to grow, WalkThatWalk may just march directly to the top of the shoe chain.
