Upstart retail site Moxsie, which has been trolling the globe with an
eye on indie designers deserving of attention, recently launched its first category specific shop-within-site, called Moxsie Sneaker Shop. And fortunately, the selection boasts an eclectic and well curated selection of sneakers at recession-friendly price points.

CEO Jon Farhner is the brains behind the buying strategy. A former marketing executive at Rugby Zone and a buyer at Zappos, Farhner focuses on the stories behind the brands—who the designers are and where they come from—rather than stacking the sneaker shop with brands for the sake of name recognition. The strategy has yielded an eclectic mix from
the bright, poppy Greedy Genius to the sleek waxed leather of 100
Styles and Running’s chukka-sneaker hybrid, Sneaky Steve’s aerodynamic pointed toe retro basketball inspired styles and the skater-inspired People’s Shoe. Meanwhile, Rubber Duck adds a punch for the women with perforated glossy leather as well as bright green canvas.

None of the styles crest above $150 and as an added bonus, Moxsie lets you
choose a charity of choice to donate part of the purchase price when
