Holiday Beauty 2013

Geoffrey Rodriguez

Beauty has never been more relevant in terms of significant trends, and the holiday season is the ideal time to honor that special someone with the gift of beauty. This season your favorite beauty brands have amped up their seasonal marketing strategies and delivered some of the most exciting and desirable collections suited for every need. From barely there beauty to bold and impactful, ’tis the season to share beauty, and our selections are sure to please even the most finicky of beauty fanatics!

Archipelago (www.archipelago.com)

Nothing creates a more warming mood than a beautiful scented candle, and Archipelago offer some of the most exquisite available. This season’s selection makes Archipelago the go-to resource for scented candles and home fragrance accessories. From holiday scented stocking stuffers to complete collections, the choices are endless. Our gold medal goes to the Winter Frost Collection – a limited edition scent with lovely notes of White Birch and Wintergreens.

Dior (www.dior.com)

The house of Dior traditionally delivers some of the most exquisite colors and formulations, and this season’s holiday contribution “Golden Winter” is certainly no exception. The most must-have shades of the season are elegantly explored in this perfectly edited collection of products that complement the entire face. For those looking for a pick-me-up beyond the facial features, Dior also offers nail varnish accented with soft metallic reflections.  We particularly love the Golden Flower 5 Couleurs/Couture Couleur Eye-Shadow Palette because it provides perfect range of shades for every possible look. We also highly recommend the Diorific lip color in Diva and Minuit!

Marc Jacobs Beauty (www.marcjacobs.com/beauty)

Globally recognized for his influential fashion designs, Marc Jacobs’ recently launched color cosmetics range is a true testament to a solid overall brand vision. Timelessly chic, modern and somewhat whimsical, Jacobs’ limited edition collections for Holiday 2013 are in a word,  fantastic! The LoveMarc Collection includes twelve of the most desirable shades of lip color in Jacobs’ rich, high-performance formulation. Even better? The cleverly curated Showstopper Set addresses every possible mood and style for the girl-on-the go and boasts some of the most essential beauty items including the ‘Magic Marc-er’ Precision Eyeliner.

Nars Guy Bourdin Holiday 2013 (www.narscosmetics.com)

The work of the legendary French fashion photographer Guy Bourdin is the inspiration behind Nars’ Holiday 2013 beauty offering. The collection is a direct extension of Monsieur Nars’ highly sophisticated approach to beauty as well as a tribute to Bourdin’s bold use of vivid color. Options abound this season and you can choose from a selection of products and gift sets or create your own personalized kit. Nars’ limited edition series is overall one of our top favorites and an absolute must-have for any true beauty aficionado. We were particularly smitten with the Cosmetic Pochette in red satin with purple sequined lips – absolutely divine and a perfect stocking-stuffer! Also available is the recently launched book entitled Faery Lands, Tahiti – a stunning collection of images shot by M. Nars, and an absolute treasure in our book!

Sephora (www.sephora.com)

The ever-expanding Sephora empire is making some relevant changes in many of their existing retail floor-plans and offering more edited product selections. The change marks a much-needed, and shall we say slightly more sophisticated approach to beauty. While Sephora offers some of the most relevant and influential brands as well as an enormous selection of holiday gift sets, we have been particularly impressed with their namesake collections. We’re loving the chic little bejeweled Clutch and Brush set and so will the beauty diva in your life!
