Put A Record On: Lykke Li

While good pop seems to have been relegated to the "guilty pleasure" category in the States of late (probably due to piss-poor icons like Britney Spears), Sweden continues to kick out quality pop jams like it's a national imperative—from The Concretes to Jens Lekman to Robyn to our latest obsession, Lykke Li.

The Stockholm-bred 22 year old recently dropped her debut album, Youth Novels, in Sweden, and its due out in the U.S. in May (if we can trust Wikipedia, that is). The first single, "A Little Bit," is a lazy, lovely sea-breeze ditty, while the latest leak, "I'm Good, I'm Gone," ups the summer-jam ante with a clap-happy beat, an earworm piano part and sugary-sweet vocals with just the right snarling edge. You don't wanna miss the video, which features vogueing school marms, strongman (woman?) drummers and, of course, Lykke Li herself, pouting like Scarlett Johansson in distress.
