Retail Watch: Nike Sportswear Opens In Soho
August 22nd, 2008 | New York
The Nike Sportswear story has taken us around the globe—from Oregon earlier this year to Beijing this summer. And the new fashion forward line will now have its own brick and mortar location at 21 Mercer Street in New York's Soho. The store has a sleek wood interior and provides ample space to test out products from what is the only complete collection of Nike Sportswear in the world. Fans of Nike's old-school looks will like the limited, made-to-order Air Force 1 Low Luxs and NSW collection Patchwork M65 jackets, while the Raf Simons-esque Flywire Windrunner, Air Max 90 Flywire and the 21 Mercer Luna Racer are available in stock for those who prefer an edgier aesthetic. And, if you have a penchant for customized design, the store also features an appointment-only customer service called Nike Sportswear Bespoke.
The store's opening was celebrated last night with a raucous block party and the actual retail space opens to the public today, August 22nd. With this new addition to the Nike family, the blue chip brand seems to be filling out their already enormous shoes very nicely.
