A Forum for Street Art
February 27th, 2008 | São Paulo
Sure, it's nothing new for a brand to recruit hot artists to create limited-edition, artsy fashion products, but every once in awhile the brands do get savvy to some talent worth talking about. This happens to be the case with Forum, a posh brand from São Paulo that's created an exclusive line of T-shirts using the illustrations of a fresh generation of Brazilian street artists.Curated by Cubículo gallery—the first in SP to be dedicated solely to sticker art—the concept was to bundle up the T-shirts with stickers. So, when you buy one of the tees, with illustrations from 12 different artists, you also receive a sticker that you can slap up on a signpost, thus becoming a part of the urban free art movement.
The artists tapped for the project (all of whose work is worth exploring in further detail) are Silvana Mello and Carlos Dias aka ASA—both uber-talented underground artists represented by the Choque Cultural gallery—as well as Sesper, Diogo Distúrbios, Projeto Chã, Pan, Muxi Muxi, Miss, Marcelo Stefanovicz, Carla Barth and Tinico.
