Pencey's Resort Prep

The posh yet rebellious Pencey girl could give Holden Caulfield a run for his money. Fittingly, the New York label takes its moniker from the fictional boarding school Caulfield was expelled from in J.D. Salinger's classic The Catcher In the Rye. And, with a recent foray into resort designs, it seems like Pencey's wares just might get the ladies kicked out of the yacht club too.

The resort '09 designs boast flirty, crêpe de chine silk dresses with mesh panel detailing that are perfect for dancing the night away. Eye-popping fabrics range from stark white to aloe vera green, while striped details decorate the matching cotton skirts and tops. Standouts including a coral jumpsuit made from 4-ply silk with an elegant jacket lapel cut in a seductive v-neck, as well as a tailored and fitted white blazer to layer over the feminine dresses and skirts.

Already in its fifth season, Pencey is designed under the refined watch of Christina Minasian—a former buyer for LA's Kitson and stylist for celebrities such as Lindsay Lohan, Victoria Beckham and Lauryn Hill. Molly Sims and Gossip Girl's Leighton Meester are both fans, while retailers Intermix, Cusp and ShopBop.com all carry the designs. The resort '09 collection launches December 15th, so make sure you don't miss the boat.
