Put A Record On: Bora Yoon Breaks All Boundaries

Bora Yoon, Photo: Leslie van Stellen
As a classically trained musician, a pitch-perfect soprano and an architect of sound as a spatial experiment, Bora Yoon brings an unusual set of skills to music making. Opening cut, "Sons Nouveaux," for instance, juxtaposes plucked violin and soaring vocals reminiscent of choral music with subtle static fields and rhythmic samples.

Interview: Abdel Bounane's Digital Amusement

Amusement

Amusement is the first high-class lifestyle magazine dedicated to video games, digital entertainment and interactive culture—an expansive approach that has completely redefined traditional gamer magazines. Amusement puts top journalists from around the world in dialogue with equally impressive and international artists for a new angle on digital entertainment. The outstanding content is complemented by the publication's sophisticated aesthetic, thanks to contributions from world-renowned graphic designers, illustrators and photographers. JC Report recently caught up with Amusement's founder and editor-in-chief, Abdel Bounane, in Paris to talk about his background, what led him to create the magazine and his strategic plans for the future.

JC Report: How did you come up with the idea for Amusement?

Abdel Bounane: Playing video games has become a mass pleasure, but classic video and technology magazines tend to address solely teenagers. Their tone, artistic direction and editorial line hasn't really changed since the '80s when video games were just a pastime for kids.  read more »

Rather than fill retail spaces with a succinct selection of painstakingly chosen items, Moscow's multi-brand boutiques contain an assortment of labels more extensive than any we've seen to date and that's even with a economic looming.

Rio Does A Body Good

Brazilian models
The avalanche of models strolling back and forth in nothing but petit summer ensembles during Claro Rio got us wondering about—and hypnotically admiring—Brazilian body shapes. Far from the whole anorexia polemic, street and runway body aesthetics reveal the city's hedonistic lifestyle, in which the body is used as an important tool to enjoy the carioca routine of sun-and-fun.
