Oh, the agony. "I can’t see — without observing," is the haunting mantra which begins and ends Rad Hourani’s new addictive short film for SHOW Studio’s Future Tense project. The untitled flick, all written, directed and narrated by Hourani himself, is a backstage look into the restless intellectual within us all. Its manic-depressive incantations — "I can’t breathe without thinking," "I can’t move without controlling" — get set to a dissonant Hourani-composed score of piercing (but not too piercing) bells and torturous drums. And model Jamie Johnsen plays a perfect troubled ghost . . . in signature sleek Hourani black, of course. Spooky. View it at showstudio.com.
