Born in 1981 into a traditional Rajasthani Marwari family in India, Saloni Lodha remembers always being attracted to beautiful craftsmanship, textures and colors growing up. With a background in graphic design, Saloni moved to Hong Kong in 2002, where she began setting up pop-up boutiques and selling one-off pieces of clothing that she had designed. After collaborating with younger artists in Hong Kong and India, her reputation quickly grew with several well received trunk shows and positive press from leading magazines. Following her passion for design, Lodha went to St. Martins in London to learn pattern cutting and couture hand sewing and was inspired to move there by London’s energy and creativity. Lodha launched her eponymous line, Saloni, in 2007, showcasing her own signature style, which subtly draws from her heritage while focusing on a modern and romantic silhouette.
