Originally a midwestern girl (and still one at heart), Mary Lee moved to New York to pursue creative ideas and amazing brands. She discovered the digital medium during her agency life in NYC and hasn’t looked back. After time in agencies like JWT New York and AKQA, she joined Moving Image & Content as an account director. Lee is thrilled to work with some of the most exciting American and European brands and to exercise her creativity everyday. She is always on the lookout for art, culture and interesting style.
What’s hot right now?
Worshipping chefs as gods (guilty!). ’70′s style. Androgyny—when isn’t it? Being socially responsible and culturally aware. Trey Ratcliff’s travel photography blog. Matthew Lew fine art. Being well read (via a screen or good ‘ol dog-eared paperbacks). Panama, its people and culture. Ridiculously luxurious coffee. Using the web for your confession, as a way to inspire others, be a voyeur and make changes in the real world.
What are the most impressive digital fashion projects at the moment?
I love Nowness. It’s refreshing to have a visually clean place to go to be entertained by beautiful movies! From an e-commerce perspective, Gilt is genius. The Lady Gaga flash sale styled by Nicola Formichetti was total entertainment and commerce in one. Gilt is seen as an expert in fashion, travel, life and food by curating a great experience, knowing how to leverage it and selling interesting things.
What are you favorite online publications?
Flipboard on my iPad has been pretty fantastic for creating my own personal magazine from sources I love to read. Right now, my top feed is Anthony Bourdain’s No Reservations and BBC for news. Better international perspective. And do Ted Talks count?
